Morocco orders research vessel in Japan

Japanese yard Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding has an order to build one oceanographic and fishery research vessel research vessel for delivery to Morocco.

Completion is scheduled in 2020 and delivery to Morocco planned in 2021. The vessel is being financed by Japanese government development aid. Japanese group Toyota Tsusho Corporation, supported by its subsidiary CFAO, awarded the new contract for the vessel in cooperation with the National Institute of Fisheries Research of Morocco, part of the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests. The value of the contract is approximately 5 billion yen (US$43.7 million). Finance for the order will be provided under a loan agreement executed by the governments of Japan and Morocco.
