"K" Line Group collaborating for Japan’s first LNG-fuelled ferry

Japanese shipping group “K” Line said its group companies will work together on joint study to provide designs for “K” Line Kinkai’s newbuilding passenger ferry to be fuelled by LNG.

The study includes specifications, engine types and any related technical verifications for LNG handling. Group companies involved in the project will be Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen Kaisha (“K” Line Kinkai) and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha
(“K” Line). The “K” Line Group has also been studying introduction of various types of LNG-fuelled vessels, including car carriers and tugs as well as expanding into the LNG supply business. “K” Line Group is promoting environmental measures based on “K” Line Environmental Vision 2050, which is the group’s long-term environment management programme in the period towards 2050.
