Tuesday, 07 Aug 2018

Canada’s Helm Operations, a marine software developer, and New Orleans-based ShipTracks are to integrate their respective data platforms, enabling Helm Connect users to access vessel location and route data whilst providing ShipTracks’ customers with improved business intelligence.

Helm Connect provides vessel dispatch and billing, maintenance, compliance and personnel management services for 3,000 marine assets around the world. The company’s software is used by more than 40% of the American Waterways Operators fleet, the largest vessel-owning organisation in North America.
ShipTracks supplies real-time vessel position data through automatic identification system (AIS) mapping and includes amongst its customers seven of the top ten inland towing companies in the United States, as well as major oil companies and shipping companies.
Andrew Kroesen, Helm Connect product manager is in charge of platform integration for Helm and pointed out some of the benefits of the partnership. “Working with ShipTracks, we’ve made it possible for all Helm Connect users to access ShipTracks functionality, like vessel location and route history, from within Helm Connect. These features were previously available only to ShipTracks subscribers and are now integrated into our web-based platform.”
