The Foundation Det Norske Veritas takes full ownership of DNV GL
In an agreement signed on December 8th, Mayfair’s shares in DNV GL Group AS have been sold to DNV Holding AS, bringing the classification society under the full ownership and control of The Foundation.
Mayfair SE originally invested in Germanischer Lloyd in 2006, six years before the German classification society was merged with Det Norske Veritas to form DNV GL. The merger in 2012 has created significant value, said Leif-Arne Langøy, chairman of The Foundation.
Mayfair’s Günter Herz said: “We are proud to have been part of building a leading quality assurance and risk management company over the past eleven years. Since we invested in Germanischer Lloyd in 2006, the company has expanded its position, and through the merger with Det Norske Veritas, became a world market leader in its industries. The integration is now complete. We thank The Foundation for the collaboration, and we wish DNV GL and its employees continued success.”
There will be no changes to the management, organisation, name or branding, and DNV GL’s headquarters for the maritime business area will remain in Hamburg.
