A new managing director of Finance and Administration has taken up his position at Wismar-headquartered MV Werften, a three-shipyard group owned by Hong Kong’s Genting Group. With effect from the beginning of February, Richard Gruenhagen is now MV Werften’s CFO.

Previously the CFO at DHL Logistics in Switzerland, Gruenhagen has a long track record in business in the US and has financial and accounting experience in both large global companies and start-ups.
“I am very proud and happy to contribute to the development of MV Werften,” he said. “Our newbuilding programme ‘made in MV’ requires an efficient restructuring of the company. Positioning MV Werften optimally and establishing the company in the global cruise ship building industry is an exciting task to which I will dedicate all my energy,” he added.
MV Werften has shipyards in the German cities Wismar, Rostock and Stralsund and some of the largest docks and covered construction halls in Europe. With direct access to the Baltic Sea, the shipyards are undergoing an investment programme which will see a laser thin-plate welding line, cabin manufacturing facilities, and the introduction of latest software and automation technologies.
The group currently has nine vessels on order including three 20,000gt Endeavour-class polar expedition yachts for Genting-owned luxury brand Crystal Cruises and two 201,000gt cruise vessels for Star Cruises, a cruise line also owned by the Genting Group.
