GAC Germany opens for business

The global ship agency firm, GAC, has opened a new Hamburg office to support some of the more than 14,000 vessels calling in German ports each year. GAC Germany, located just north of Hamburg, will work alongside the group’s ship spares logistics division, GAC Marine Logistics GmbH, set up in 2014, the company said.

Headed by Thies Holm, GAC Germany will provide all of the usual ship agency services, including ship provisioning, husbandry, bunker fuels, drydock arrangements, and other services. The combination of this support, together with the strategic provision of spare parts delivered through the logistics company, will strengthen GAC’s service provision across German ports.

Thomas Okbo, GAC’s group vice president, Europe & Africa, said: “With the establishment of GAC Germany, we are ensuring that the total service we offer customers throughout northern Europe is ready and robust. Shipowners and operators in the energy, dry and liquid bulk, automotive and other sectors will benefit from our increased presence.”
