Royal IHC and Floorganise BV are to collaborate in establishing the framework for a digital supply chain system in the Dutch shipbuilding sector. The plan aligns with the Dutch Maritime Masterplan which is designed to accelerate renewal of the national fleet.
Floorganise, through its Floor2Plan Shipyard Manufacturing Execution System (MES) platform, assists shipyards in boosting predictability, productivity, and effective management. The company already assists yards across Europe and North America.
By connecting the partners in the Dutch shipbuilding chain more effectively – designers, engineering firms, suppliers, manufacturers – the entire system can become more efficient. Capacity utilisation can be optimised and hold-ups reduced or prevented entirely.
Floorganise managing director, Ronald de Vries, commented: “Shipbuilding has unique characteristics that must be acknowledged in process innovation. Our team has the knowledge, technology, and ambition to push boundaries together with Royal IHC. Fleet renewal and the Maritime Masterplan demand speed and predictability – that’s exactly where Floor2Plan and digital supply chain collaboration add value.”
Derk te Bokkel, Royal IHC chief executive, said: “The delivery time of complex systems – that’s were Royal IHC stands out. The quality of our process organisation is crucial. With more insight and data from our supply chain, we are taking the next step.”
