Damen appoints new COO

Damen Shipyards Group has appointed Marc van Heyningen as its new chief operations officer (COO) from the beginning of April. Van Heyningen succeeds Jan-Wim Dekker who took on the position of chief commercial officer (CCO) on January 1st.

Van Heyningen has spent most of his career in various positions for Fluor Corporation, a United States engineering and construction multinational. Most recently, he was vice president of Operations based in the company’s headquarters in Dallas, Texas. He holds an MSc in Civil Structural Engineering from Delft University.

Damen’s CEO, Arnout Damen, said: “We warmly welcome Marc on board. With his experience and background, he is certainly able to take operational excellence within our company to an even higher level.” The company’s other board members are Andreas Fluhrer, chief transformation officer, and Tom Touber, chief financial officer.
