NYK-participating projects receive subsidy

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), through its “Support for Technology Development from Marine Vessels for Curtailing CO2” project, has decided to subsidize through fiscal 2009 the below three projects that the Japanese shipping group NYK is currently working on in tandem with other companies for future technology development.

GOLAR LNG and PTTEP agreement

Further to the Golar LNG Ltd.("Golar"), Bermuda, announcement in August 2008 of the MOU signed between Golar and PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited ("PTTEP") of Thailand covering the joint development of Floating LNG (FLNG) opportunities, Golar has signed an agreement with PTTEP to jointly enter into Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) studies for the proposed Australian FLNG project located in North West Australia.

Harris Pye and Sobrena Shipyard sign collaboration MOU

Two major players in the marine industry, the Harris Pye Group, based in Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, and Sobrena Shiprepair Yard, of Brest, have signed a non-exclusive collaboration agreement to work together providing services for refurbishment, repair, upgrade, conversion and life extension of ships and offshore assets across the marine, cruise and oil and gas fields.

Start of Vietnam-US East Coast Service

CKYH Alliance (Coscon, "K"LINE, Yang Ming, and Hanjin Shipping) will start a direct service between Vietnam and the U.S. East Coast by adding Ho Chi Minh City in its current AWE-4 (All Waters East Coast-4) service, which is one of the Alliance’s Far East - U.S. East Coast lanes operated by "K" LINE, effective from the middle of August, 2009.
