Sail power and voyage optimisation now available in Norsepower package

Both new and existing customers of Norsepower Oy Ltd, a Finnish provider of sail power systems for commercial ships, will now be able to benefit from a supply package comprising both wind sail system and voyage optimisation from software and data analysis specialist, NAPA. The two companies have signed an agreement whereby new and existing customers will have the option of a combined package to include NAPA Voyage Optimization Software. The software will determine the best possible route for maximum energy savings based on prevailing weather conditions throughout the voyage as well as other variables including ships’ individual design profiles.

Pointing out that Norsepower Rotor Sails already offer potential fuel and emission savings of up to 25%, CEO Tuomas Riski, said: “Vessels using the solutions available today will be able to decarbonise faster. It will also help shipowners achieve greater climate alignment compliance scores, including the IMO’s Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII), as well as supporting the ship finance portfolios that are influenced by the requirements of directives such as the Poseidon Principles and Sea Cargo Charter clauses.”
