Danelec to run data over DNV GL Veracity platform

Voyage data recorder, ECDIS and ship-to-shore information company, Danelec, will now run its data over DNV GL’s Veracity platform. The move will enable the Denmark-headquartered company to pass data securely and efficiently from its DanelecConnect system aboard customers’ ships, via Veracity, to interested parties ashore.

Danelec Marine CEO, Casper Jensen, commented: “DanelecConnect taps into existing data infrastructure to create resilient IoT capabilities for customers looking to collect more data for diverse use cases with multiple stakeholders, such as vessel performance optimisation, safety and voyage documentation, and remote virtual data room surveys.” The move would help to position the company as a leader in the maritime data collection field in the years ahead, he added.

Earlier this year, DNV GL revealed that its Veracity platform will now support the ingest of data towards the maritime data standards, ISO19847 and ISO 19848. Danelec is the first company providing data over Veracity to meet the new standards.

Veracity managing director, Mikkel Skou, said: “The fact that Danelec has decided to standardise its data, and make it available on Veracity, will facilitate for shipowners, managers and other data consumer to both acquire, use, and re-use data across many different use-cases.”

Danelec systems are now installed on more than 6,000 vessels.
