US industrial alliance to promote LNG as a marine fuel

The three companies, which have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, will focus initially on bunkering infrastructure in Florida before expanding into other North American markets.
The oil major will provide expertise on safe bunkering and sell LNG as a marine fuel to ship operators. Eagle LNG will supply the gas, design, build and operate small-scale production and storage facilities, and coordinate land-based transport. Crowley will provide bunkering logistics.
"The Memorandum of Understanding is another major step forward in developing LNG as a marine fuel,“ said Luca Volta, LNG venture manager at ExxonMobil. "It will leverage the specialist knowledge and expertise of
ExxonMobil, Eagle LNG Partners and Crowley to the benefit of vessel operators bunkering in North America.
This agreement provides additional opportunities for vessel operators looking to adopt LNG as a marine fuel.

ExxonMobil, Eagle LNG Partners LLC and Crowley Maritime have agreed to cooperate on the development of LNG

bunkering infrastructure in North America so that the necessary storage facilities and technical support can be made available for ship operators to re-fuel with gas reliably and safely.
