TT-Line to place two-ship deal at FSG

Friday, 12 Jan 2018

TT-Line Company PTY LTD has signed a letter of intent with Germany’s Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft GmbH & Co, KG (FSG) for construction of two new passenger ferries to replace the current Spirit of Tasmania ships which operate between Australia and Tasmania.

FSG is currently building cruise ferries for Irish Ferrries and Brittany Ferries, and RoRo vessels for the Siem Group. The company has also designed and built RoPax vessels for Canadian BC Ferries and Scottish Caledonian MacBrayne.

FSG, which was chosen above a number of other competing shipyards, will now work with TT-Line to decide on final design specifications and contracts.
“We expect to place an order for the new vessels in the first half of the 2018 calendar year and for them to be delivered in time to commence operations on Bass Strait in 2021,” said TT-Line chairman, Mike Grainger.
