The shipbuilding company IHC Merwede said it recently had launched a stationary cutter suction dredger at its Netherland-based shipyard in Sliedrecht.

Owner of the vessel “Miondo” is Marina & Ports Services Ltd, England. The contract for the design, construction and delivery of the vessel was signed between Marina & Ports Services Ltd and IHC Beaver Dredgers in March 2011and the delivery of the newbuilding is expected for the third quarter of 2012. With an overall length of 63.7m and a breadth of 14m, the “Miondo” has a draught of 3.5m. The newbuilding has a total installed power of 4,836kW. According to IHC, the vessel’s maximum dredging depth is about 17m and the suction pipe diameter is 650mm. The vessel is equipped with two cutter special dredge pumps, which are specially designed with a large sphere passage for cutter suction dredging operations. The anchor boom allows it to operate in remote areas with limited support equipment.
