Subsea 7 awards letter of intent for reel-laying vessel

Monday, 11 Sep 2017

Norwegian-backed offshore contractor Subsea 7 said it has signed a letter of intent with Dutch yard Royal IHC to build a reel-laying vessel and associated pipe lay equipment expected to be worth nearly US$300 million.

It will be Subsea 7’s highest-specification reel-lay vessel and will be delivered in early 2020. A final contract should be signed before the end of 2017. The ship will be capable of installing complex rigid flowlines including pipe-in-pipe systems and electrical trace heating.
