Dr. Silke Sadowski, Editor in Chief Schiff&Hafen | Ship&Offshore

BOC 2015 was organised by the DVV Media Group in cooperation with the German Association for Marine Technology (GMT), the German Engineering Federation’s (VDMA) Working Group on Marine Equipment and Systems, the German Shipowners’ Association (VDR) and the German Shipbuilding and Ocean Industries Association (VSM). Participants included top executives of companies
active in the offshore sector as well as experts from its fastgrowing supply industry and from international research institutions.

Awaiting them was a first-rate programme divided into the sections “Current and Future Offshore Energy Projects” and “Offshore Project Realisation”, followed by a workshop called “Make Business Offshore”. During the breaks, they took the opportunity to converse directly with the speakers, to deepen their understanding of the presentations and to network. The social high point of BOC 2015 was a VIP dinner on the first evening of the event at the Speicherboden, a former warehouse in Hamburg’s historic Speicherstadt.

State-of-the-art solutions will give new impulses and lead to new business opportunities that can be directly discussed with top executives at the conference.

Section 2: Offshore Project Realisation
Financing, insurance and the installation of offshore units are the most important topics for the realisation of any offshore project.
Therefore it is absolutely necessary to understand and integrate these topics at a very early stage and throughout the entire planning and engineering process of new projects.
In order to stay within budget and schedule, it is further of high significance to get suitable offshore vessels and assets for efficient, save and cost-effective transport and installation of offshore units.
Section 2 of this year’s BOC covers all aforementioned aspects and provides participants with high-quality information for further discussions.

Workshop: "Make business offshore"
This workshop is discussing all aspects of performing international offshore projects. Main topics are, but is not limited to:
•    Operator expectations
•    Contractor expectations, are they are different and if, why?
•    Picking the right offshore assets and how to get them
•    Financial, insurance and legal aspects
•    How to improve project performance and projects

Therefore the operator/contractor workshop is a must for company reps. dealing (or planning to deal) with international offshore projects, as it is providing such a compact knowledge of relevant offshore related issues, necessary to improve their performance and avoiding expensive errors.
